Cast Announcement for ‘The Ballybruff Trilogy’
Wild geese, wild priests and wild goings-on in rural 1970’s Ireland make for a wild Irish Opera Triptych.
The Ballybruff Trilogy by Luke Byrne (music) & Shirley Keane (libretto)
The three short operas that make up this new work, lay bare the heart ache, the bitterness and frustrations of life in the rural parish of Ballybruff. Each short opera is a self-contained story, but tales intertwine, passion turns to revenge and hate simmers with the ever present strong, black tea. For those of you who enjoyed, ‘Bloody Murder’ so much and who asked for a bigger, longer version, we are happy to oblige with ‘The Ballybruff Trilogy’. Meet the suave, new parish priest and his housekeeper-nemesis the indomitable Mrs O’Riordan and the shadowy Daddy, aka PJ Shine, in ‘The Proposal’ and ‘Parochial House’ along with the original short opera which started it all ‘Bloody Murder’.
