Opera Workshop is currently developing a new site-specific opera at the Limerick Civic Trust maintained, Georgian house, No 2 Pery Square, now home of the People’s Museum of Limerick. Opera Workshop spent some time in January 2020, working with composer Fiona Linnane on the first set of scenes and characters evolving from the very seams of this fascinating, historical building. Singers Sarah-Ellen Murphy, Cathriona Walsh, Roisin Walsh and Kevin Neville, have been working with director Shirley Keane and composer Fiona Linnane as part of the early devising process for the new work.
We are delighted to be working with production partners, Honest Arts Production Company on this new project.
Our sincere thanks to Limerick Civic Trust and the People’s Museum of Limerick, in particular Dr Rose-Anne White who have welcomed us into this much loved Limerick landmark building.
We are grateful too, to our Limerick based artistic neighbours for their support including the Irish Chamber Orchestra and Lyric FM.
This development project was made possible through funding by the Arts Council of Ireland and Limerick City & County Council Arts Department.
Opera Workshop and Fiona Linnane are proud to present what is possibly the first ever opera scene to explain a Tontine Scheme. We guarantee you will be none the wiser by the end!
Opera Workshop look forward to sharing the new scenes and first stage of the work once current government health guidelines allow.
