‘Songs of the Meteorologist’ by Fiona Linnane
☔️The Opera Forecast
The opera forecast for the Mid West will be taking a turn for the dramatic in December when Opera Workshop in association with production partners Honest Arts release the short films, ‘Songs of the Meteorologist’ by Fiona Linnane. Featuring soprano Roisin Walsh and saxophonist Markus Kraeber, these operatic weather reports will whip up a storm of wild antics and sultry outlooks.
Filmed in and around the rooms and grounds of the iconic Shannon Rowing Club on Limerick’s Sarsfield Bridge, the scenes were first produced as part of the site specific production of ‘Abandoned’ at the Sailor’s Home. These snappy songs of the trials and tribulations of a meteorologist were dreamed up by soprano Roisin Walsh. Roisin was inspired by the storm reporting of Teresa Mannion and the social media coverage that ensued and Fiona Linnane was only too happy to create, these truly inspired songs of extreme dedication to duty and our native obsession with the weather!
Directed by artistic director, Shirley Keane working with film makers Lucy Dawson and Shane Vaughan and production partners Honest Arts, Opera Workshop look forward to bringing you these crazy vignettes featuring soprano Roisin Walsh and saxophonist Markus Kraeber. We are grateful for the generous support of @creativeireland and @limerickarts for the opportunity to create this new short film as we continue to reach out to our audience via social media.
Our sincere thanks to Shannon Rowing Club for sharing their wonderful building with us for the making of this film.
